What is scentwork?
Scentwork is a dog sport that taps into your dog’s natural ability to use their nose to find a specific scent. Dogs are trained to search for and indicate a target odour—starting with something simple like a toy or food, and progressing to specific scents hidden in boxes, rooms, vehicles, or outdoor areas. It’s inspired by working detection dogs but adapted into a fun, accessible activity for pet dogs. The dog does the searching while the handler learns to read their behaviour and support the process, making it a brilliant partnership-based activity.
